Colin Lambert crawled through into the machine at a laundrette in Maryville, Tennessee.
The 18-month-old was enticed by the collection of cuddly toys behind the glass panel, according to his grandmother Diane O'Neill.
She told WBIR-TV he crawled in while she was distracted by a text message, The Telegraph reported.
"All I could see was his feet. He had already crawled in," she said.
"I grabbed his feet and he kicked my hand and got in. He climbed up over the glass partition and sat down in the toys."
Maryville Fire Department attended the scene and rescued the youngster who was “excited” to see them.
His mother Bridget added: “He’s made his whole family proud, all the way up to New York, all the way down to Georgia and across to Nashville. Everybody’s proud of him.”
He also got to keep a toy from the machine to remember his adventure.
