COVID-19 kills 134 Iranians in 24 hours

Iran’s Health Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said on Thursday that over the past 24 hours 2,595 new cases of infection with COVID-19 have been confirmed in Iran while 134 Iranians lost their lives by coronavirus disease bringing the total death number to 10,130.

Speaking at her daily briefing session, Lari told reporters that based on the latest figures, 1,305 patients out of the total 2,595 newly infected have been hospitalized, IRNA reported.

She noted the total number of Iranians who have so far been confirmed infected with the COVID-19 nationwide stood at 215,096 and a total 10,130 Iranians have so far died by the fatal virus.

According to Lari, 175,103 cases out of the total infected Iranians have so far recovered while 2,899 others are in critical conditions.

The spokeswoman added presently Khuzestan, Bushehr, Kermanshah, Kurdestan and Hormuzgan are among Iranian provinces with highest number of coronavirus patients and the number of patients are increasing in Fars and Tehran provinces.

Iran, one of the worst-hit countries by the virus in the West Asia, reported its first coronavirus case on February 19.
