Iran dismisses US report on terrorism due to its ‘double standards’, ‘dishonesty’

Spokesman of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the US latest report on terrorism is completely unacceptable and condemned because of its clear dishonesty, blatant blame game and double standards regarding the issue of the fight against terrorism.

“Iranians have been both victims of terrorism and heroes of the fight against terrorists who have been created and backed by the US,” Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said on Thursday.

Referring to the US administration as “the biggest sponsor of state terrorism and major supporter of the aggressor and usurper regime of Israel,” Mousavi said Washington is not in a position to claim that it is against terrorism or have the right to judge others in this issue.”

Referring to the US role in formation of certain terrorist groups and its support for terrorist activities in the region during the past decades, the spokesman said even US President Donald Trump had acknowledged during his election campaigns that former US administrations were behind creation of the Daesh (ISIS) and other terrorist groups.

Referring to the US direct role in the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani in January, the spokesman added, with its more than 17,000 martyrs, Iran has been the victim of terrorist activities that were carried out with the US direct or indirect support.

He stressed that the country has always been at the front line of the fight against terrorism both at the regional and international levels.

Mousavi said US unilateral sanctions against Iran as well its acts of economic and medical terrorism are new examples of the US terrorist measures against independent nations.
