COVID-19 kills more than 11,000 in Iran

Coronavirus disease killed 148 Iranians in the past 24 hours bringing the total death toll of the fatal disease to 11,106, Iran's Health Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said on Thursday.

Speaking at her daily briefing session, she said during the past 24 hours, 2,652 new cases of infection with the COVID-19 were identified and 1,595 of them have been hospitalized, IRNA reported.

She noted that a total of 232,863 Iranians have so far been confirmed infected with the COVID-19, and 194,098 of whom have recovered and were discharged from hospital.

According to Lari, another 3,097 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition and being treated in intensive care units.

She added that 1,719,451 tests have so far been carried out in Iran.
