“The main cause of the incident was determined through accurate examinations and investigations carried out by experts who tested different hypotheses through detailed assessment of impacts, quality and scale of the damage inflicted by the incident,” Keyvan Khosravi said on Friday, according to a report by nournews.ir.
He categorically dismissed possibility of any radioactive contamination caused by the incident since the “damage to the shed under construction at the Natanz Nuclear Complex was limited because there was no nuclear materials at the site of the incident.”
Meanwhile, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi had said that the incident took place at about 02:00 local time on Thursday. He added the damaged shed was under construction and had no radioactive materials.
Kamalvandi too, had ruled out any possible radiation contamination at the site of the incident noting it had not caused any casualties since the site was not operational yet. But there was some material damage which is under investigation, he added.
