The film will be screened at the feature film section of the 36th edition of the Polish festival, ifilmtv.com wrote.
‘Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness,’ was co-produced by Iran, France, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Lebanon. Behnaz Ja’fari, Babak Karimi, Fereshteh Sadre-Orafaiy and Sadaf Asgari are among the cast.
The film is about a young woman, Maryam, who has been sentenced to death for murdering her husband, Nasser. Iranian law allows for the victim’s family to forgive her and spare her life, so Maryam’s fate will be decided by Nasser’s daughter, Mona, on the country’s most popular televised reality show.
The film has so far received international recognition by attending a number of events and winning a number of awards, including Grand Jury Award at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival in the US, Special Mention for best screenplay at the Sofia International Film Festival in Bulgaria, and Grand Jury Award from the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
‘Yalda’ has succeeded in gaining high revenues by screening at German theaters.
